Russell Westbrook had 28 points and Kevin Durant chipped in 19 points and five rebounds as the Oklahoma City Thunder improved to 7-1 this season in games after a loss with a 101-87 win over the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City Friday night.
Oklahoma City pulled away on a 16-4 run in the third quarter, aided by six free throws from Westbrook and Durant and a cluster of three-pointers (OKC only hit four three pointers all game, a season low). Oklahoma City out-rebounded the Jazz 46-32, resulting in 16 second-chance points for the Thunder.
The win guarantees that Thunder head coach Scott Brooks will coach the Western Conference All-Stars in the NBA All-Star Game February 26. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
