Carl Edwards will start from the No. 1 spot for the 2012 Daytona 500 as his lap of 194.738 mph was tops among all qualifiers. Edwards teammate on the Roush Fenway Racing team, Greg Biffle will start alongside him after posting a lap speed of 194.087 mph. That amounts to one tenth of a second.
The pole win marked Edwards' first in the Daytona 500 in his seven years racing on the NASCAR circuit.
