Daytona 500 Postponed (Again), Race Starts Monday Night

"The Great American Race" is going under the lights in Daytona, as the postponed event from Sunday afternoon has been pushed back from its first rescheduled time, 12 noon ET, to 7 p.m. Monday night in accordance with local forecasts.

SB Nation's Jeff Gluck is reporting that if Monday night's weather can't accommodate the race, the race could be moved to Tuesday, and then possibly... Easter?

Previously, it had been speculated that a Tuesday race might not allow NASCAR's traveling circus to get to Phoenix in time for Friday's practice sessions. Easter Weekend has been rumored as a backup plan in case Tuesday won't work, but forecasters say the weather should be fine that day.

FOX will move its primetime schedule tonight to accomodate the 500, giving NASCAR the rare primetime weeknight network time slot against shows like The Voice and The Bachelor, which skew predominantly female. One totally unforeseen circumstance of two days' worth of rain in Florida is that NASCAR could end up a ratings winner on a previously untested stage, changing its TV identity.
