Martin Truex Jr. passed Greg Biffle with a little help from Denny Hamlin to claim the $200,000 bonus as the halfway leader at the 2012 Daytona 500.
The race got off to a rough start with a large crash on lap 2 that sidelined several cars including Danica Patrick and Jimmy Johnson. Other incidents from the first-half of the race include a pit-road crash by Ryan Newman and A.J. Almendinger along with Jeff Gordon blowing an engine shortly before the halfway mark.
Currently Clint Bowyer is running in the front pack and in the top 5. Pole sitter Carl Edwards is currently back in 21st place and seems to be buying his time and just looking for positioning.
