2012 Daytona 500: Carl Edwards 17th As Race Still Under Red Flag

Clean up continues before it can be determined whether or not the Daytona 500 will be able to be restarted following a fiery crash by Juan Pablo Montoya into an on-track jet dryer.

Dave Blaney is the current leader and Kansas native Carl Edwards currently sits in the 17th spot. If the race is called, then Edwards will hold a slight lead over last season's rival in Tony Stewart who is currently 21st.

Behind Blaney is Landon Cassill, Tony Raines, David Gilliland and Matt Kenseth. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is sixth while Kevin Harvick is eighth. Some notables were taken out of the race early. Jimmy Johnson was involved in a crash on the second lap of the race and his Hendrick Motor Sports teammate Jeff Gordon suffered a blown engine later in the race.
