The Kansas City Chiefs already had a couple of linemen who were possibly going to retire, both on offense on defense. Kelly Gregg and Casey Wiegmann are both reportedly leaning toward retirement, but another might beat them to it as Ryan O’Callaghan is also reportedly ready to retire according to Adam Caplan.
O’Callaghan is a free agent this offseason, but the Chiefs have major needs both at starter and for depth at the offensive tackle position. Thus it’s possible that the former New England Patriot could have landed with the team. The Chiefs are likely to have several new faces, then, at the position come preseason time in August. Barry Richardson is also a free agent and is not expected back, at least in a starting role. Steve Maneri has been shifted to tight end. O’Callaghan came to Kansas City in September of 2009 and was drafted into the NFL as a fifth round choice of the Pats in 2006.
