The Kansas City Chiefs have named their choice as the team's new offensive coordinator and Brian Daboll has won the role. This comes on the heels of rumors of his possible hire for weeks alongside Jim Zorn and Al Saunders. The Chiefs were also in on Mike Sherman as a possibility but went with Daboll in a process that took much longer than most anticipated.
The Chiefs, in the process, get a guy that they're very familiar with. Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli are both well-versed with Daboll's ability from their time together in New England. Even Matt Cassel was with Daboll in his early years with the Pats and he recently described him as "very meticulous. Always very creative...also expects a lot out of you and won't let you slide on things."
Le'Ron McClain already tweeted out that he liked the deal, so we're getting some good news on a hire that was considered lackluster at first. Here's hoping Daboll can put the pieces together on offense.
