Kansas Women Take Second At NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

Lost in all the excitement over March Madness in college basketball is the second-place finish by the Kansas Jayhawk women in the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Nampa, Idaho.

Kansas was one of four Big 12 women’s teams that placed in the top 10. Kansas finished second to national champion Oregon. The Texas women were fourth, Texas A&M fifth, and Iowa State 10th.

Texas placed the highest of the Big 12 men’s teams, in seventh place, and the Texas A&M men finished 10th.

Big 12 athletes won five individual events in the national indoor championships: the men’s 200 meters and the 100 meters, 5,000-meter run, triple jump and shot put on the women’s side..
