Former Chiefs Coach Carl Hairston Still Active In Canadian Football League

The B.C. Lions have a blast from the past for Kansas City Chiefs fans in their latest press release with the announcement that Carl Hairston is taking over defensive line coaching duties. The CFL team added the former Chiefs coach recently to round out the staff, and it’s clear they love his long line of experience in the NFL.

“Carl brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the role of defensive line coach and we’re fortunate to have him join our staff,” Lions coach Mike Benevides said. “From our initial meeting, it was clear that as a former Super Bowl champion and a widely respected coaching mind, Carl is a great fit for our club. Our defensive linemen will be tutored by one of football’s finest position coaches.”

From the release, “Hairston most recently served on the coaching staff of the United Football League’s Sacramento Mountain Lions and coached UFL clubs in Omaha and Florida in 2010 and 2009, respectively. Before moving to the UFL, he held assistant posts with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs (1995-96, 2001-05), St. Louis (1997-2000) and Green Bay (2006-08).”
