Oklahoma won its fifth Big 12 Gymnastics Championship over the weekend with a season-high overall team performance. To add icing to the cake, the Sooners did it in front of their home crowd at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
↵The Sooners recorded the highest team score in all four rotations (vault, bars, beam and floor exercise) and placed first and second in three of the four individual events. Missouri’s Celine Paulus won individual honors in the vault.
↵Iowa State finished second and Missouri was third.
↵The Big 12 also recognized Mary Burke of Missouri as Gymnast of the Year, the second Missouri gymnast to receive the award. Oklahoma’s Megan Ferguson was named Event Specialist of the Year and Rachel Updike of Missouri, Newcomer of the Year.
↵OU’s K.J. Kindler was named Coach of the Year. Only three Big 12 schools participate in women’s gymnastics.
