Goody's Fast Relief 500 Results: Ryan Newman Wins First Race Of The Season

The Goody's Fast Relief 500 went into overtime racing when a caution flag was raised when David Reutimann's Chevrolet stalled on the straight away on the 497th lap. Due to the stalled car there was a restart, and prior to the restart Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson were dominating the race.

On the restart it was Johnson and Gordon in the lead and just ahead of Clint Bowyer and Dale Earnhardt Jr., but Bowyer decided to make a move to go under Gordon and Johnson. That did not go well as to try to get the lead, but the three cars connected which caused Johnson and Bowyer to run into the wall on turn two and Gordon and Earnhardt's machines were damaged.

Ryan Newman was able to take advantage of the accident by avoiding the damage and held off A.J. Allmendinger to win his very first race at Martinsville.

Carl Edwards just missed out of finishing in the top-10 by coming in 11th place.
