The ESPY Awards may be held in Los Angeles, Ca., but the 2012 edition will get a bit of a Midwest-Kansas twist as comedian Rob Riggle will be the host of this year's annual event which will be broadcasted on ESPN, July 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
↵Riggle, who's probably best known for his role as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show or the "IN THE FACE!" shouting Las Vegas cop in the movie The Hangover, is a University of Kansas alum and is a huge fan of the local sports scene. According to a article by Entertainment Weekly, ESPN executives picked Riggle to be the host for that reason, however, the comedian believe its something else.
↵↵↵“Straight up sex appeal,” he said in a release. “I know guys like Justin Timberlake and Seth Meyers are sexy. What can I say, I’m just another link in that sexy chain.”
↵
Riggle, who was born in Kentucky but was raised in Overland Park, KS, probably will not go down as the most notable host in ESPY history, but, at least, it will give SB Nation Kansas City fans a bit more reason to watch the event.
