The NASCAR Sprint Cup series has already reached the quarter pole of its regular season, and will begin the march to the halfway point Sunday at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS. The 400-mile race, which will begin at 1 p.m. ET on FOX, will be raced on the 1 1/2-mile tri-oval and feature "hometowners" Clint Bowyer, a native of Emporia, Kan., and Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray, who're each from from Missouri.
SB Nation's Jeff Gluck believes that Gregg Biffle is the favorite to win the race, while Edwards will be looking to lead his first lap(s) of this year's 36-race schedule and also try to snap a 40-race winless streak.
"There would be no bigger win on the circuit," Edwards said. "If I had to choose between winning one race throughout the year, that would be the one I would pick. The amount of pride that I would have winning that close to home and in front of so many people that are friends of mine and people that have helped me, that would be huge."
Also competing at Kansas this weekend is the Camping World Truck Series, which will run its race on Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.
Here's a compsite schedule of the weekend for Sprint Cup:
Friday: Practice, 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. ET
Saturday: Qualifying, Noon ET
Sunday: Race, 12:30 p.m. ET
