Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon lead the position players eligible on the voting ballot for the 2012 MLB All-Star Game, as revealed in a ceremony at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday that featured KC mayor Sly James, Royals owner David Glass and team icon George Brett. Gordon almost made it last year, so it's a possibility again this year if he can raise his current average and turn in a performance that mirrors last season. As for Hosmer, it's hard to believe multiple All-Star Games are not in his future.
"I came close last year, and I think the goal for our team is to get more than one guy on the all-star team," Gordon said. "That means we're playing well. Hopefully this year, we can do that. And hopefully the next couple of years we can do that."
Here's the complete list of Royals on the ballot:
Billy Butler
Lorenzo Cain
Alcides Escobar
Jeff Francoeur
Chris Getz
Alex Gordon
Eric Hosmer
Mike Moustakas
Salvador Perez
