Martin Truex, Jr. has been the leading man in the STP 400 at the Kansas Speedway thus far, as the race nears its conclusion. Truex has battled off Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin to hold the lead at the STP 400.

Jimmie Johnson was called in to pit by his crew chief Chad Knaus during the last caution. Johnson seemed to be in position to finish the race, but the opportunity to pass Truex seemed unlikely. For that reason, Knaus brought the No. 48 in.
