The Oakland Raiders have righted the ship internally with the hiring of Reggie McKenzie as the new general manager and Dennis Allen as head coach. However that doesn’t stop the drama from happening players lives, and there’s a fresh situation to deal with given the news of star wideout Darrius Heyward-Bay being arrested for drunk driving.
From the official report at the San Francisco Chronicle, “According to CHP spokesman Tony Tam, the Raiders first-round draft pick of 2009 was driving his 2012 Range Rover on the lower deck about 2 a.m. April 7 when an officer spotted him speeding and weaving in his lane. Heyward-Bey, 25, was pulled over and given a field sobriety test, which he failed, the CHP said. He was cited for alleged drunken driving and later released.”
If he suspended for any reason, it would be a big loss for the Oakland Raiders offense given the jump forward that Heyward-Bey made last season. With the loss of Michael Bush and even the offensive prowess of Hue Jackson, the Raiders are going to need Bey to be present and anchor the passing game.
