When you examine the number of conference championships current Big 12 schools have won in all sports in the Big 12 era, the first thing that jumps out at you is how few times Missouri and Kansas State have been the best in the league.
↵The Wildcats trail all of the conference schools with only seven league championships in any sport, either in the regular season or in conference tournaments. Missouri is a close second for the fewest conference titles, with nine.
↵Texas leads all of the Big 12 schools with 116 team titles, largely in swimming and diving and track and field. Texas A&M has the second most Big 12 championships with 54.
↵Baylor, which has been especially strong in tennis (where the Bears have won 30 men’s and women’s titles combined), surprisingly is tied with Oklahoma, both with 43 conference championships. The Sooners’ strongholds have been in football, gymnastics and softball.
↵Kansas has posted 20 conference championships, most all of which have been in men’s basketball.
