Wichita State is projected to be one of the last five teams selected the NCAA Baseball Regionals, with one having the Shockers as the No. 3 seed at the Tallahassee site, hosted by the nation's No. 1 team Florida State Seminoles.
Other teams projected in the Tallahassee region other than Wichita State and Florida State are Mississippi and Bethune-Cookman.
If this projection holds true, Wichita State would be the only team representing the state of Kansas in the regionals, since Kansas barely made the Big 12 Conference Tournament.
First, the third-seed Shocks want to take care of business in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, starting with sixth-seed Southern Illinois. When the conference tournament is over, the Shocks could find themselves pitted against what is considered to be the best college baseball team in the nation.
Wichita State recorded a 35-23 record for the season.
