2012 MVC Baseball Tournament: Missouri State Shuts Out Wichita State 7-0

Cody Schumacher pitched a complete game shutout for Missouri State on Wednesday, as the Bears rolled past Wichita State, winning 7-0.

Schumacher was dominant in the 111 pitch outing. Schumacher allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out eight en route to his eighth win of the year. It was the first career shutout for Schumacher, and it came at an opportune time for Missouri State.

Kris Gardner started for Wichita State, and he failed to escape the first inning. Gardner recorded just two outs, allowing five runs on five hits.

Five members of Missouri State's starting lineup recorded multi-hit games, as Spiker Helms, Keenen Maddox, Luke Voit, Brock Chaffin and Eric Cheray all recorded two hits in the win.

With the loss, Wichita State has been eliminated from the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference tournament.

Missouri State will play again on Thursday, as they await the loser of the Southern Illinois/Bradley game. First pitch for Missouri State's Thursday bout is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CT.
