2012 Big 12 Baseball Tournament: Missouri Eliminates Kansas, Advances To Championship Game

Kansas' Big 12 tournament run ended as they were defeated by Missouri 12-2 after eight innings of play. Missouri got out to a 5-2 lead after four innings and the also knocked out Kansas' starting pitcher Tanner Poppe after one inning and then Jordan Jakubov only lasted three innings.

Missouri really got a hold of reliever Robert Kahana who gave up four runs in only 1.2 innings, and with Missouri leading 9-2 the game was slipping away for Kansas.

The game ended early after Missouri scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win by 10 runs. In the final frame Missouri's Dane Opel hit a two-RBI triple and the game was officially over when Michael McGraw hit a sacrifice fly to score Opel to secure the win.

Opel led Missouri's offense by going 3-for-5, scoring three runs and knocking in five RBI.
