As the storied Kentucky Derby races for the 138th time at Churchill Downs, many stables, trainers and owners are hoping for their share of eternal glory. The unofficial results are now in and have I'll Have Another as the winner. Bodemeister finished second after leading the majority of the race.
I'll Have Another faced long odds according the oddsmakers. The horse, ridden by jockey Mario Gutierrez, made bettors happy as the horse's morning line was set at 12-1. It was his first ever try to race at the Kentucky Derby.
Coming into the race, Bodemeister and Union Rags among others had been considered the favorite. Bodemeister led for most of the race and even have a five-length lead. But I'll Have Another came through at the very end, forcing the favorite to second place down the stretch.
