LaDainian Tomlinson Says He's '95 Percent Retired'

LaDainian Tomlinson will no doubt go down as one of the greatest running backs of his generation. His years with the San Diego Chargers were among the best seasons ever for productivity at the position and he extended his career well with the New York Jets. Now it's clear that he might be hanging up his cleats permanently, but not without at least entertaining the right offer.

Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter is reporting via Twitter, "Just spoke with LaDainian Tomlinson. Said he is 95% retired. Added that it would take the right team/situation for him to play again." That could be a chance to go back to San Diego if they would have him. They've brought in a few players to help bolster the running back position, but they've lost Mike Tolbert. Former Chiefs fullback Le'Ron McClain signed this offseason as well to work with Ryan Mathews as the feature back.

For such a storied veteran, it wouldn't surprise to see someone snatch him up.
