Missouri State (39-20) will make its eighth all-time appearance in the NCAA Baseball Tournament on Friday when they begin play in the Coral Gables Regional against C-USA upstart UCF (43-15). The Bears arrive to Miami after a 2-2 showing in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament last week, strong enough to earn them the No. 3 seed in the Regional, thanks to a second place finish in the No. 5 RPI conference MVC.
Missouri State has proven to be a tough out in the NCAA Regionals historically - they've won at least two games in their last five postseason appearances, but haven't made the Regionals since the 2003 season. They've never faced Stony Brook or UCF, and are 0-2 lifetime against Miami. The winner of the game will face the winner of Friday's Miami vs. Stony Brook game Saturday afternoon.
