Carlos Beltran Interested In Home Run Derby During MLB All-Star Weekend In Kansas City

Heading into the 2012 MLB season, the St. Louis Cardinals were hoping just to slow the bleeding after losing Albert Pujols to the Los Angeles Angels while subsequently replacing his spot in the line-up with Carlos Beltran. Instead, they got a rejuvenated outfielder with 18 home runs in early June and a potential contender for MVP.

It’s not a surprise given his power display in 2012 that Beltran was recently asked about potentially hitting in the 2012 Home Run Derby during All-Star Weekend at Kauffman Stadium. Given his history with Kansas City, Beltran said that would be especially interesting for him.

"If that happens, that would be great," Beltran said. "My career started there as a player and since I got traded, I’ve never been back. It’s been like eight years since I’ve been back."

Beltran is also in line to start his seventh All-Star game of his career in 2012.
