Raise your hand if you had Michael Thompson atop the leaderboard at the 2012 U.S. Open after nearly a round of play.
Thompson currently leads the entire field at -3, through 16 holes. Though the first round isn't over, Thompson looks like he'll certainly be near or at the top of the leaderboard after one round.
Golf superstar and legend Tiger Woods finds himself in the hunt as well, as Woods sits at -1 through 16. The other two members of Woods' group, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson are struggling mightily. Mickelson is at +6 through 16, while Watson is an even worse +8.
Only five golfers are under par so far in the U.S. Open. Along with Thompson and Woods, Daivd Toms, Jason Bohn and Marc Warren are under par. Toms and Bohn are at -2, while Warren is -1.
