U.S. Open 2012 Golf Leaderboard: Tigers Woods Moves Into First Place

He had some help, but Tiger Woods has moved into sole possession of the lead at the 2012 U.S. Open.

Woods birdied the par 3 No. 3 to move to 1-under on the day and 2-under overall. Michael Thompson opened the day with a three-shot lead, but bogeyed No. 11 and double-bogeyed No. 12. to fall to 1-under overall right before Woods got his birdie. Thompson then bogeyed No. 14 and has fallen to third place at even par. Jim Furyk is in second at -1.

Kansas State alum Aaron Watkins and Oklahoma State alum Hunter Mahan are tied for 22nd. Both shot 1-over on the day and are 3-over overall. Oklahoma alum Martin Flores has shot 3-over through six on the day and is six-over for the tournament.

With Woods in the lead, attention to the tournament is sure to increase. Here is a look at the current leaderboard.
