2012 U.S. Open: 17-Year-Old Beau Hossler Ties Tiger Woods In 2nd Place

Tiger Woods is going to earn the lion's share of attention, but a young phenom is also turning heads with match play equal to the iconic great so far in round two of the 2012 U.S. Open. Seventeen-year-old Beau Hossler is the unexpected underdog looking to make waves on the biggest stage possible. For now, he's just trying to enjoy the moment.

Hossler was already in the top 10 heading into today's second round action with an even par 70. Some great golfers like Rory McIlroy are in danger of not even making the cut, but Hossler is making another strong round today by sitting at one-under at this point.

"I've been playing really well lately," Hossler said after round one. "I expected myself to go out there and get a lot out of my round. I still left a few out there, but you have to accept that, it's the U.S. Open. It's going to happen."

Consider that two names to watch through the weekend for the casual fan.
