The Missouri St. Bears were facing an elimination game against against the host Miami Hurricanes and the Bears brought the offense to eliminate the Hurricanes 12-2. The Bears scored nine runs in the first two innings including batting around in the bottom of the first where they scored seven of those runs.
Miami's starting pitcher Steven Ewing only pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up seven runs, six hits and walked a pair. His replacement Javi Salas did only sightly better but he gave up two more runs to the Bears in only 1 and 1/3 innings. In those first two innings the Bears were just able to get hit after hit against Ewing and Salas to build their lead.
Miami was able to score a pair of runs in the top of the third inning of Missouri State's starting pitcher Pierce Johnson, but that was the scoring that the Hurricanes would get all day.
Johnson ended up pitching eight strong innings and only allowed six hits and struck out seven batters. Missouri State added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to go up 12-2.
There were so many players for Missouri State who had a great game but two of the better performances came from Brent Seifert who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, and then Keenen Maddox who went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBI.
