College Football Playoffs: BCS Commissioners Support Selection Committee To Determine Field

College football took a progressive step forward when BCS commissioners came to a consensus on a four-team college football playoff. There are still plenty of details to hammer out, however, starting with how the top four will be chosen. According to Sports Illustrated's Stewart Mandel, commissioners currently favor a selection committee over the continued use of polls and/or computer formulas.

Winning a conference championship would not be required to make the four-team field, however it could still factor into the decisions of the committee. CBSSports.com's Brett McMurphy also reported that bowl games will likely host the semifinal games over campus sites.
