Wimbledon Scores And Results: Andy Roddick Out, Serena Williams Survives

Andy Roddick tried valiantly, but once again came up with the short end of the stick at Wimbledon.

Roddick's time is over the All England Club in 2012, after being defeated in his 3rd round match to Spain's seventh-ranked David Ferrer, 2-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-4, 6-3.

The 30th-seeded Roddick appeared unstoppable in the first set, beating Ferrer with a wide array of tremendous shots. Unfortunately for Roddick, Ferrer took control from there, starting with a great second set in which he won the tiebreak.

In other news around Wimbledon:

America's 10th-ranked Mardy Fish ended the tournament for 21-year-old David Goffin in straight sets. Goffin does deserve credit though, forcing two tiebreaks against the favored Fish (6-3, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6). The No. 5 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga was able to beat Slovenian Lukas Lacko quickly to move into the final week (6-3, 6-4, 6-4).

On the women's side, Serena Williams kept her dreams afloat of another Wimbledon title, despite a grueling three set match against No. 25 Jie Zhang. Williams had to dig deep but got the win, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 9-7.
