University of San Francisco pitcher Kyle Zimmer has been linked for a while now to the Kansas City Royals' No. 5 selection in Monday's MLB draft. The latest Baseball America mock draft has Zimmer going to the Royals with that pick, and made these comments about the projection:
Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore was on hand for (Max) Fried's impressive last start and Zimmer's lackluster final outing. In spite of that and health concerns that cropped up down the stretch with Zimmer, he looks like the choice. (Carlos) Correa is a possibility, too.
Just over the weekend, SB Nation Kansas City posted these scouting videos of Zimmer in action for San Francisco. Baseball America has Fried going to the Miami Marlins with the 9th pick, and Correa to the San Diego Padres with the 7th selection.
