Oklahoma One Win Away From Softball Championship With Win Over Alabama

It was a great day for University of Oklahoma sports teams on Monday. OU baseball won the Charlottesville (Va.) Regional championship to advance in the NCAA Tournament, and the Sooner women defeated Alabama 4-1 to come within one victory of their second softball national championship.

Sooners’ All-American softball pitcher and National Player of the Year Keilani Ricketts won her 37th game of the year, striking out 12 Crimson Tide hitters in the first game of a best two-out -of-three championship series in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Big 12 softball champion OU is making its seventh appearance in the WCWS. The Sooners won their only championship in 2000. The Sooners have won all four of their games in the 2012 WCWS and can close out the championship with a win over Alabama in game two of their series on Tuesday night.
