2012 MLB Draft Results: Kansas City Royals Day 3 Picks

Day three of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft is in progress -- and it'll soon bring the entire draft to a close. The Royals have made a slew of picks on day three of the draft, and a fair share of Kansas City's picks are college players.

Here's a look at who Kansas City has taken in day three of the draft so far:

  • Austin Fairchild, LHP, St. Thomas HS, Houston, TX
  • Ariel Estades, OF, Puerto Rico Baseball Academy, PR
  • Justin Alleman, RHP, Holt HS, MI
  • Andrew Triggs, RHP, USC, CA
  • Shane Halley, OF, Virginia
  • Matt Strahm, LHP, Neosho County CC, KS
  • Alec Mills, RHP, Tennessee-Martin
  • Kevin Allen, RHP, TCU, TX
  • Drew Maggi, C, Arizona State
  • Matt Tenuta, LHP, Apex HS, NC
  • Mark Donato, 1B, Indian River CC, FL
  • Ashton Goudeau, RHP, Maplewoods CC, MO
  • Sam Bates, 1B, Arkansas
  • John Walter, RHP, Penn State
  • Ethan Chapman, OF, Cal State San Bernadino
  • Hayden Edwards, RHP, Blue Valley HS, KS
  • Patrick Conroy, LHP, Martin CC, CA
  • Evan Phillips, RHP, Clayton HS, NC
That's five high school players on day three of the draft -- and signability will likely be a concern with them, as high school players drafted in later rounds have a fair bit of leverage, since they can go to college and try to improve their draft stock over the next few years.
