British Open Leaderboard Update: Tom Watson Has Mixed First Round

The 2012 British Open is underway and most of the first round is finally finished given that its several hours later into the day across the pond. The good news for golf enthusiasts and casual fans is that the leaderboard is loaded with notable names. If this continues, the final rounds at Royal Lytham & St. Annes is going to be worth watching.

Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Bubba Watson are just a few of the names in the top 10, all looking up to Adam Scott who leads the British open field with a six-under score.

As for Tom Watson, the 62-year-old is hanging in the thick of things with a one-over score, and he's currently tied at No. 70 on the leaderboard overall. The five time champion is a fan favorite and storied player in the tournament, and he began to come alive on the back nine with two birdies. However, two late bogeys placed him back at his current position.

Gary Woodland is tied for 94th overall at two-over on the day while Chez Reavie is right behind him at three-over.
