Wimbledon 2012: Serena Williams Defeats Yaroslava Shvedova To Advance To Quarterfinals

There are three Americans left in the men's and women's singles draw as Wimbledon enters its second week. The first on the court is Serena Williams who just defeated Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan to advance to the quarterfinals.

On the men's side, Mardy Fish faces fifth-seed Frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. With Rafael Nadal already out on Fish's side of the bracket, Tsonga is the highest-seeded player Fish will face until a potential matchup with Andy Murray in the semifinals. The match will be the last of the day on Court No. 2.

The other American man still alive is unseeded Brian Baker. The 27-year old will play 27th-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in the round of 16. Fish and Baker would play each other in the quarterfinals, if both were to win.
