Royals Vs. Mariners: Blake Beavan Shuts Down Royals, Mariners Win 6-1

So far, Kansas City's trip to the Pacific Northwest isn't going so well.

After dropping the first of a four-game set on Thursday 4-1 to the Mariners, the Royals lost 6-1 on Friday night, as Kansas City's bats could not solve Blake Beavan.

Beavan, who has struggled this year, lasted six and 2/3 innings, giving up just one run on four hits and one walk, while striking out six. With the win, Beavan improved to 6-6 on the year.

Jeremy Guthrie, on the other hand, was anything but good. Guthrie lasted five and 1/3 innings, surrendering six runs on 11 hits, while striking out four and walking none. Guthrie has now lost both of his starts as a member of the Royals, and has failed to escape the sixth inning in either start.

John Jaso did most of the offensive damage for Seattle, going 1-3 with a home run and four runs batted in. Jaso's first inning home run was a three-run job, and he later added a sacrifice fly.
