Kansas City Royals Experience The Pains Of Young, Developing Roster

The 2012 MLB season for the Kansas City Royals has been a roller coaster. That said, fans should have expected as such with the young roster and developing talent. Growing pains are termed just that -- pains -- and the Royals are feeling every day of this losing streak they're on and hoping for the best.

The team lost an abysmal 12 games in a row earlier this season and their current slump feels eerily similar. Since the All-Star Break, the Royals are 4-12 and cannot seem to find any signs of life amid their starting pitching. Despite a hot run through the late spring that gave the Royals hope for contending, they're currently. mired with one of the worst records in baseball. Event their hitters are also starting to slump and the latest minor blow is a day-to-day knee injury to Mike Moustakas.

"We're trying to do everything we can to get out of this funk," Chen said. "But you can't panic, you just have to do it one step at a time. I know I lost today, but I felt like it was a step in the right direction."

The team turns to Will Smith today on the mound to salvage at least one win out of the four games against Seattle in the team's current series. However it doesn't look good. Seattle responds with Felix Hernandez on the mound who is a potential Cy Young candidate.
