Kansas Jayhawks Sprinter Diamond Dixon Helps Team USA Advance In 4x400-Meter Relay

The Kanas Jayhawks track and field team is being represented quite well by Diamond Dixon in the 2012 Olympics in London. Dixon ran the third leg for Team USA in the semifinals of the women's 4x400-meter relay Friday evening and the Americans are poised to make a run at gold in the finals.

Dixon ran an unofficial split time of 50.15, second fastest on the team behind DeeDee Trotter's 50.12. Team officials will decide on who the final four sprinters will be for the finals, and its likely that Dixon will make the cut.

Team USA completed their relay at 3:22.09, finishing with the No. 1 overall time amongst the eight qualifiers. The women's 4x400 meters final will be run at 2:25 p.m. (Central) on Saturday. The Jamaican relay team is likely to be the chief competition for the Americans.
