Team USA Basketball: James Harden Calls Gold Medal Win 'Overwhelming'

The Oklahoma City Thunder can do a lot of reflecting as the NBA season begins soon enough as Serge Ibaka, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and James Harden all played in the gold medal game with Ibaka suiting up for Spain. It's a group of memories that none of the core players will ever forget, a two week trip that Harden called "overwhelming" when asked about it.

"It's hard to explain," said Harden. "Just being on this team with this great group of guys, competing for a gold medal and reaching our goal is overwhelming ... Every single day it was something different. Especially, like I said, being with these guys. You get to watch them play basketball, you play basketball against them, but once you are the same team you get a feeling for who they are as a person. Every single day was something different and I am just happy to be a part of this team."

Harden was glad to get in the game against Spain at the end and said he didn't start celebrating until the game was over given the close nature of the contest down the stretch.

"Actually, I think we were up only seven or eight and I missed two free throws, but I'm just happy we got the win," said Harden. "That was our goal. We met early in the summer to win a gold medal, and here it is."
