The Kansas City Royals look to play spoiler to one of baseball's Cinderella teams, as they open up a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday.
Both Ned Yost and Bob Melvin have announced the starting lineups for Tuesday's contest, and they are as follows:
Oakland Athletics
CF Coco Crisp
2B Jemile Weeks
RF Josh Reddick
LF Yoenis Cespedes
1B Chris Carter
DH Brandon Moss
C George Kottaras
3B Josh Donaldson
SS Cliff Pennington
SP Jarrod Parker
Kansas City Royals
LF Alex Gordon
SS Alcides Escobar
DH Billy Butler
3B Mike Moustakas
C Salvador Perez
RF Jeff Francoeur
1B Eric Hosmer
CF Lorenzo Cain
2B Chris Getz
SP Jeremy Guthrie
While Oakland's lineup certainly doesn't appear to be imposing, Reddick, Cespedes and Carter are all enjoying an excellent 2012 campaign, although small sample size certainly does apply to Carter. Regardless, the A's have been playing excellent baseball, and shouldn't be taken lightly.
