Kansas State Basketball: Wildcats Lose A Wild One To Tijuca In Rio de Janeiro

The Kansas State Wildcats lost a heartbreaker in Rio de Janeiro to Tijuca, 74-72 as Bruce Weber and his Kansas State Wildcats continue their basketball odyssey through Brazil this week.

After winning a pair of games in Sao Paolo, K-State found things to be much tougher in Rio, as the host 22-under Tijuca Club team drained a corner three-pointer with less than a minute to play which would be the deciding bucket. That would end what was a wild game with questionable officiating throughout. In fact, Weber was tagged with a pair of technical fouls and ejected early in the fourth quarter.

SB Nation's Bring On The Cats has a full review of the game including these comments from Weber.

I have been on many international trips and you never know what type of officials you are going to get in these games, and FIBA rules are pretty different. They let us play pretty physical in our first three games and tonight we had five guys foul out, but give our kids credit for coming back.

The K-State team held a basketball clinic in Rio on Tuesday with plans to tour historic Sugar Loaf Mountain on Wednesday. The basketball portion of the trip then wraps up against Botafogo.
