The Kansas City Royals look to pick up where they left off on Wednesday night, as they look to take the second game of a three-game set against the Oakland A's and position themselves for the three-game sweep on Thursday.
Will Smith gets the start a night after Jeremy Guthrie led the Royals to a 5-0 win. Smith is coming off of a start in which he picked up his third win of the season, allowing just two runs on six hits in seven innings of work. To date, Smith is 3-4 with a 1.43 WHIP and 5.48 ERA through 46 innings.
Kansas City's offense will face off against Oakland's ace, Brandon McCarthy. Wednesday's start against the Royals will be McCarthy's second since being activated off the disabled list. McCarthy is 6-3 with a 2.68 ERA and 1.20 WHIP through his first 84 innings of work in 2012.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CT. Televised coverage can be found on FOX Sports Kansas City.
