Royals Prospect Christian Colon Injures Eye With Foul Ball

The Royals' first-round selection in the 2010 MLB Draft, infielder Christian Colon, will have his right eye examined Monday after he fouled a ball off his own eye on Monday night.

"We're waiting for the swelling to go down," Royals assistant general manager J.J. Picollo told the official Royals website. "His vision is good and everything seems fine," so tests will apparently be precautionary and are not happening immediately after the injury.

Colon spent 73 games at the Double-A level before recently moving up to Triple-A in Omaha. In five games at Triple-A, Colon has gone 7-for-17 (.412) and played shortstop and second base. Earlier in the season, a toe injury held Colon out of the lineup at the Double-A level.
