Matt Weibring, son of professional golfer D.A. Weibring, birdied the 18th hole on Saturday to break a tie with defending champion James Nitties and take a one-stroke lead at 14-under-par 199 after three rounds of the Web.com Tour Midwest Classic at the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park.
Weibring is the third different leader through 54 holes of the 72-hole tournament. Second-round leader Bryan Decorso shot two-under 69 on Saturday and dropped back into a tie for third on the leader board with a 54-hole score of 201. Kevin Foley, who led the field after the first day, shooting an eight-under 63, was one over par for the third round and six shots back of Weibring.
Low score on Saturday went to James Lovemark, who tied the best 18-hole score for the tournament with an eight-under 63, which moved him from a tie for 31st into a tie for third place heading into Sunday's final round. Lovemark's Saturday round included an eagle on the par-five sixth hole, six birdies and no bogeys.
The final round will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
