Royals Prospect Christian Colon To Miss Rest Of Season

Kansas City Royals prospect Christian Colon will miss the remainder of the 2012 season after hitting himself in the face with his own foul ball Aug. 13 while playing for the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers.

The injury occurred in Tucson, where the shortstop was finishing up his fifth game this season with the Storm Chasers. He was 7-for-17 in his short stint there, belting a home run and driving in five runs.

Colon was a 10th-round draft pick out of high school by San Diego in 2007. He elected to play for Cal State-Fullerton, being named an All-American his senior year for the Titans, and was the fourth overall selection in the 2010 draft.

↵

He spent the bulk of this season with Double-A Northwest Arkansas, batting .289/.364/.392 before being called up.

No specific injury was cited, but the Royals did say he did not suffer any damage to his vision.
