Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby Tours Kansas Athletics

Bob Bowlsby continued his tour of Big 12 schools and toured Kansas University's campus and athletics on Wednesday and Thursday.

The newly-appointed commissioner walked away impressed with the university's facilities and commented on the separate paths the basketball and football programs are currently following, with Charlie Weis hoping to reinvigorate a football program that finished 2-10 in 2011 and 0-9 in the Big 12.

"I look forward to being around them and watching what they do with their programs; obviously they are in different situations. One (program) is fully mature and competing at the very top of the country, and the other is in its infancy in terms of a new regime. Both are fun to watch. I think both will do a lot of good things. I expect to get here frequently during the course of the year. That'll do nothing but enhance those relationships."

Bowlsby was able to witness some of the football practice on the day and commented on the impressive caliber of Allen Fieldhouse and the new football complex, as well as the department's training and support facilities.

Bowlsby is touring nine of the Big 12 campuses over the next two weeks, traveling to West Virginia in September.
