Nick Watney and Sergio Garcia are tied atop the 2012 Barclays tournament leaderboard as Round 2 winds down on Friday afternoon at Bethpage Black Course in New York. Meanwhile, Columbia, Mo. native Jeff Maggert dropped down the board after shooting a 3-over 74.
Watney ended play on Thursday a shot back of Round 1 leader Padraig Harrington, but his 2-under 69, combined with Harrington's 4-over 75, catapulted him into the lead. Garcia finished the first round two shots back of the lead, and continued his solid play by shooting 3-under on Friday.
Maggert played a solid round of golf on Thursday, shooting a 2-under 69. However, the wheels came off a bit on Friday, as he bogeyed four times and double-bogeyed once.
The best round of the day belonged to Henrik Stenson, who knocked in seven birdies on his way to a 6-under 65. Notables Tiger Woods (5-under overall through 17) and Vijay Singh (7-under and in the clubhouse) are in the hunt, while Phil Mickelson dropped back to even for the tournament after shooting a 3-over 74 on Friday.
