Nick Watney has won the 2012 Barclays tournament from Bethpage Black Course in New York with a 2-under 69 on Sunday. He finished 10-under for the tournament, three strokes ahead of runner-up Brandt Snedeker.
Watney entered Sunday trailing Sergio Garcia by two strokes, as he finished Saturday's round at even-par, while Garcia ended the day at 2-under. However, Watney birdied six holes on Sunday, which helped offset four bogeys. Meanwhile, Garcia fell apart in the middle of the round, bogeying three out of four holes during the stretch from eight through 11. He also bogeyed on holes one and 18, and only had one birdie on the day.
Canadian Graham DeLaet had the best round of the day, shooting a 6-under 65 to vault himself into a tie for fifth place overall. Meanwhile, Dustin Johnson's solid 3-under effort allowed him to finish in a tie for third with Garcia.
Sunday's win was the sixth of Watney's PGA career, and likely the best to date. Meanwhile, a guy who has more wins than anyone on the tour completely imploded, as Tiger Woods shot 5-over on the day, and finished at plus-1 for the tournament.
Columbia, Mo. native Jeff Maggert struggled badly for the third consecutive day, as he shot a 5-over 76 on Sunday. Maggert finished the tournament at 9-over after shooting a 2-under 69 on Thursday.
