2012 U.S. Open Tennis: Kansas Resident Jack Sock To Face No. 22 Seed Florian Mayer On Day 1

The 2012 U.S. Open Tennis Tournament kicks off on Monday from Queens, New York. Overland Park resident Jack Sock will be in action.

The 2012 U.S. Open Tennis Championships begin on Monday, Aug. 27 from the UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. Overland Park, Kan. resident Jack Sock will be in action against No. 22 seed Florian Mayer on the Grandstand court following the completion of a women's singles match featuring Marion Bartoli and Jamie Hampton.

Roger Federer is the top seed on the men's side, while Belarus' Victoria Azarenka holds the No. 1 seed for the women. Notably missing from the tournament bracket is Rafael Nadal, as the world's third-ranked player withdrew from the tournament due to knee tendinitis.

TV coverage of Monday's events will begin at 9:30 a.m. CT with the pregame show on the Tennis Channel, followed by matches beginning at 10. Then, ESPN2 will pick up some live action at noon, and will continue with primetime coverage starting at 6 p.m.
