Kansas City Royals Announce 7 Players For Arizona Fall League Participation

The Kansas City Royals announced today that they will have seven total participants in the Arizona Fall League. Three pitchers from the organization will join the league while four position players will take the field after the regular season ends.

Edwin Carl, Jon Keck, and Justin Marks are the Royals pitchers taking part. Infielders Alex McClure, Whit Merrifield, Orlando Calixte and outfielder Brian Fletcher round out the rest. Perhaps Marks is the most well-known of the prospects given that he's ascended to AAA Omaha this season after going 3-5 with a 3.80 ERA in AA with Northwest Arkansas.

From the press release, "2012 marks the 21st season of the Arizona Fall League, created by Major League Baseball in 1992 to serve as an off-season league for top prospects. The season will begin on Tuesday October 9, with the Rising Stars Game set for November 3 and the Championship Game scheduled for November 17."
